Melanotaenia boesemani 'Aitinjo'
Melanotaenia Etnaensis |
Melanotaenia boesemani 'Aitinjo' is a slightly smaller version of perhaps the most popular Rainbowfish, Melanotaenia boesemani. This Rainbowfish only grows to around 10cm, but it makes up for its slightly smaller size with its more intense colouration. It is characterised with deep orange and dark blue colouration. It gets its name 'Aitinjo' from the village near to where is was collected on the lake Danau Uther in West Papau. |

Melanotaenia trifasciata 'Habgood River'
Sometimes referred to as the 'Banded' Rainbowfish, Melanotaenia trifasciata are found throughout various water bodies, including rivers and swamps in Northern Australia. There are over thirty varieties of M. trifasciata, with some colour morphs being more distinct than others. In the home aquarium, they can reach up to 15cm but it is more typical that they grow to around 12cm. The particular variety were found in the 'Habgood River' located in the East Arnhem Land in the Northern Territories. This is perhaps my favourite variety of trifasciata. |
